Going for the gold

Like a lot of people this week, my television has been tuned in nightly to the winter olympics in Vancouver. Of course, I'm always amazed at skiers and how they make the sport look beautiful, seamless and safe. Tell that to me four years ago as a skiing instructor told me to get off the slopes before I hurt myself!
Watching these games though, I always love to hear interviews with the athletes before and after their events. They are so passionate, so determined and so competitive. Even the ones that fall or had to come back from some wicked awful injury are positive and ready to go out on the slopes and do it all again. They hope that this time, they will do their best and win the gold.
I liken this to dating, fellow singles. We are all used to metaphorically taking an awful fall and busting ass on slick ice. Those unforeseen bumps we all stumble over, like those on a ski slope, are such surprising roadblocks. We miss the mark, but in the end, we keep getting back up to try again.
No matter how hard we bite it, we need to remember to get our skis and snowboards of love back on and go for the gold. THE guy (or girl) is out there. Somewhere they are waiting at your finish line - and mine!
