A Glamorous Mother/Daughter Outing
Life is busy!
And if you’re a mom, life is really busy, all the time. But it should be fun. It goes by fast and we want to make sure we are enjoying the time with our kids, and not just getting through the day.
As any mom knows a lot of our time is spent reminding our kids to do their homework, clean up their room, feed the dog, take out the trash, etc. I know they get tired of hearing it, but actually not as much as we get tired of repeating it!
So it is crucial then, to make sure to spend some time with them just hanging out, having fun, and doing something that they want to do. With teenage girls, it always involves a little shopping, but I think we want to make sure that the message there is not about how much we spend, appearances, or the latest designer names. Other experiences should always stand out long after the new jeans have faded.
Here are some of my daughter’s and my favorite ways to spend a glamorous day together. Sometimes we start the day getting a manicure/pedicure together (there are so many around town to choose from!)
We both love to pop into our local library or bookstore. We could stay the whole day if we aren’t careful. We love Little Professor, Books-A-Million, and Barnes & Noble.
Lunch: My daughter considers Olexa’s a very special treat, but also loves Flip Burger!
Depending on the weather, we love to stroll or hike around the Botanical Gardens, catch a movie, or check out some antique shops!
Since a little shopping is usually on the list, she likes to go to Brookwood Mall, The Summit, and Soca in Homewood. We also have fun checking out the vintage clothes at Zoe’s in Forest Park and then popping into Naked Art Gallery to see what cool things they have in there.
After all that, we are ready for a little sugary pick me up (what can I say, she has my sweet tooth!) Some favorites are: dreamcakes cupcakes, Soho Sweets, Pastry Art Bake Shoppe, Yogurt Mountain, Mountain Brook Creamery.
Home sweet home!
